Advance Fee fraud - holiday lets in the UK.
The name used is "Melanie Boothroyd". Email addressmelanieboothroyd@yahoo.co.uk
Mobile Number: 07776709798
Active at the moment - responds to gumtree adverts from people looking for accommodation. Sends pictures of a convenient looking holiday let at a very attractive price. Asks for two weeks rent up front. When paid money goes missing, fraudster is adamant nothing has reached her bank - has even sent screenshots of her account, purportedly showing no money arriving in the account. Eventually disappears with the money. I have full transcripts. Reported to police - Crime Reference Number NFRC140900758019. I have it on good information that this person is still actively defrauding people.

This woman has just tried to scam me. I placed an ad for accommodation in Edinburgh on Gumtree and she replied with photographs and sketchy details of a property in exactly the area we needed. She called herself Kirsty Jones, had a Liverpudlian accent and her details are Kirsty.jones2014@hotmail.com using the same mobile number as you posted. I felt there was something suspicious about her and googled her details - her mobile number brought up this post. I'm about to contact the police, although thankfully I hadn't sent her any money, but was very close to sending a 35% deposit. Thank you so much for posting this, you've saved us being completely scammed by this woman.
ReplyDeleteI got caught out by Melanie Boothroyd using same methods from Gumtree. She was using the following phone number 07900510131 and this bank account: sort code 306522 account # 52745160. Has anybody else reported the use of this account for fraud to Lloyds bank?
